The light gray she-cat sprinted across the plain, ignoring the grasses that brushed against her chest and belly. Her long legs stretched out to their limits, but she was not running from anything. Quite the contrary; she was running just for fun. Friskyheart held her head high, delighting in her own speed and agility and wondering how anyone could live without running! Suddenly, a cat-scent reached her nose, and Friskyheart stopped immediately, standing stock-still with legs straight and stiff. The scent of prey and the warm, brown grass confused the scent of the cat, and she could not tell whether it was from LightClan or not. Amber eyes scanning the area around her, she waited with a heavily thudding heart for the other cat to show itself. ((Heh, that is soooo unlike me. I hate running! I'm a swimmer for sure, but never will I be a runner ))

A white and black cat crept through the tan grasses. She watched a small mouse scurry. Her green eyes focused on the harmless creature, and she sprang toward the creature. Rustling scared the mouse, and Ivorypaw missed. She gave a hard glare at the grasses when she saw something moving.
Wanting to know what messed up her kill, she slowly crept though the grasses. She couldn't identify the smell of the cat so she was a bit nervous. She leapt out of the grasses. She tried to stop her pounce when she noticed that her mentor was in front of her. She fell to the ground, gulping hard. She almost attacked her mentor... not a good thing.

((So can I assume we've "already had" the apprentice ceremony and such? Okay, cool with me))
The second she saw Ivorypaw spring toward her, Friskyheart darted out of the way quickly, ears pricked forward and eyes wide with surprise. Her fur did not bristle, but she did tense, waiting to see if the cat would attack her. The light gray she-cat breathed in the apprentice's scent, and her eyes widened further. It was Ivypaw, her apprentice!
"Well, I didn't expect to see you out here," she mewed calmly, sitting down and curling her tail around her paws. She knew that Ivorypaw wouldn't have attacked her on purpose, so she supposed it was an accident. "Good stalking. I almost didn't hear you coming."
Friskyheart paused and studied Ivorypaw carefully, wondering if she shouldn't have praised her for the stalking that had nearly led her to attack her. Then, shrugging nonchalantly, she purred, "Well, since we're both out here, how about a little fighting practice?"

OOC: Ivorypaw would of had her apprentice ceremony since she is already seven moons old.
BIC: The sleek apprentice half expected a lecture or at least some scolding. When nothing came, she got off her back and sat up. Her ears moved forward as her mentor spoke. It seemed she always was like that when either Friskyheart or LightClan's leader was speaking. Ivorypaw felt a bit bad for pouncing at her mentor.
"My stalking? Thank you!" the apprentice said happily. The she-cat loved to hear praise from everyone. "I'm still terrible at hunting though," she admited, looking at her paws. She could stalk very well, and she had the power in her pounce, thanks to her back legs, but she lacked control over where she attacked. "Yeah. I need some fighting practice," she said when the warrior suggested it. Ivorypaw couldn't remember if she practiced fighting skills with Friskyheart. If not, the mentor better not underestimate her.

((okie dokie))
Friskyheart noted Ivorypaw's surprise, but she didn't say anything about it. It was not like Friskyheart to lecture someone on a simple mistake, and she wasn't about to start now. When Ivorypaw spoke, Friskyheart let out an amused purr, mewing, "You're an excellent stalker. That's the hardest part of hunting. Later on we can work on some aiming and pouncing, but for now let's go with fighting."
The light gray she-cat dropped into a crouch, eyes narrowed as she looked at Ivorypaw calculating. The apprentice was smaller than Friskyheart, but the she-cat knew that Ivorypaw was a strong young cat, and she couldn't let her guard down very much.
"Attack me," she ordered softly, tensing her muscles and planning to counterattack anything that was thrown at her. A cool breeze ruffled her fur, keeping her cool and calming her spirits; Friskyheart had been at top speed before, but now she needed to calm down a bit so that she could be a good teacher. Yes, today was a good day for training.

Ivorypaw nodded as her mentor spoke to her. The apprentice was soaking in her words and her praise. Soon, she was examining all the possible way to attack her mentor. When she saw one spot and saw how it would turn out if she attacked, chills came. The apprentice took it as a sign that it wasn't the best place.
Once Friskyheart gave her the word to attack, she finally decided on a way that didn't cover her in complete chills. Stalking to the right, she took a sudden leapt at her back, claws sheathed. It would be best to put away the claws until later. As soon as he attacked Ivorypaw regreted making that choice.

Friskyheart watche Ivorypaw intently as the apprentice went to her right. The warrior saw the apprentice's eyes on her back, and immediately knew what she was planning to do. The move would have been a good one, had Ivorypaw's eyes not given it away. When she leaped, Friskyheart ducked down and dodged away just in time. Then she twisted around and prepared to ram her shoulder into Ivorypaw's the second the apprentice landed. Well, there was one thing they needed to work on: secrecy. Friskyheart herself kept her eyes on Ivorypaw's face, not giving the apprentice a chance to see that she planned to attack her shoulder.

Ivorypaw foresaw this. The movements of her mentor were so swift that she completely missed it. She landed on the ground with a large thud! The apprentice knew she had to recover and quickly. Her green eyes met with Friskyheart's. There was no clue on what was going to happen next, so she rolled on her side and outstretched all four of her legs. This was no counterattack, but only a way to defend herself.

Friskyheart had begun to ram into Ivorypaw when the apprentice rolled onto her side. Surprised, the she-warrior swerved away and made a small circle, coming back to stare at Ivorypaw. Whether the apprentice had done this because she knew what has happening or not, Friskyheart couldn't help but feel impressed; it sure had stopped her. But now the apprentice was on her side, not on her feet, giving Friskyheart a chance to attack. She circled Ivorypaw, sweeping her eyes over the apprentice while she decided where to attack. Her gaze rested a bit longer on the apprentice's side before going back to her face. Baring her fangs, she sprang forward, paws outstretched, aiming for the side that wasn't protected by the legs.

Ivorypaw knew that her mentor's next target was going to be her other side. It seemed like the most logical place to attack since her side was very vulerable. Thinking quickly, she rolled around to her feet. Standing up, she jumped back to avoid Friskyheart's attack. This move was delayed so her opponent's claws could of cut her if the claws were unsheathed.
Once her attack was done, she looked at her mentor's eyes. So closely that she could see how big the she-cat's pupils were. Then focusing her sight on her mentor's legs, she took a large leapt on the warrior's back. If she did connect with the jump, she wrapped her paws near the she-cat's neck. The thought that the move was very good, but wasn't too thingyy about it.

A sense of pride continued to build in Friskyheart's chest when she saw Ivorypaw dodge. Friskyheart skidded to a stop and followed Ivorypaw's gaze, which was focused on her legs. As the apprentice attacked, she jumped straight into the air to avoid getting her legs hurt. As it was, this move could also be used to dodge attacks to her back, so the attacked missed, but just barely.
The second Friskyheart landed, she sat down, fur flat and calm, ears pricked toward her apprentice. "Enough for now," she purred, not able to hide the pride in her voice. "Let's talk about a few things." She stopped talking and waited calmly for Ivorypaw to sit down as well.

Ivorypaw fell to the ground with another thud! Groaning, she began to shake off any grass or dirt that went on her unique pelt. The apprentice was determined to get at least one paw on the mentor, but she quickly cut off the lesson. Shaking her head, she thought that she was about to be directed toward all her mistakes.
Sitting infront of Friskyheart, she lowered her head and tried to hide the exhausted panting that came from the hard training. This took most of her strength and she didn't do very good.

"Ivorypaw, you did a wonderful job for your first day. Far better than I did," Friskyheart mewed, eyes twinkling as she remembered how horrible she had done on her own first day of fighting practice. "As you soon found out, looking at the spot you are going to attack gives your enemy a chance to get ready to dodge. You overcame that, of course, by not looking at me where you were going to attack," she paused, smiling at her apprentice happily. Then, a second later, she continued, "But when you set your eyes on my legs, you should have first thought about how I'd dodge if I thought you were aiming there. Going left or right would not really work to dodge that kind of attack, so I'd naturally jump up. That would also be sufficient to dodge an attack to the back. When you feint like that you must always keep that in mind."
Now that she had that out, Friskyheart stood up and crouched down again, eyes studying her apprentice. "Let's continue," she purred, ears flicking forward as she waited for Ivorypaw to move first.

'Well, that wasn't too bad,' thought the apprentice as her mentor spoke. She didn't make much mistakes past what she thought. Nodding her head at almost every sentence, Ivorypaw soaked up every word. "Right!"
When the she-cat realized that today's lesson wasn't over for today, she quickly stood on her four paws, ready to have another go at it. Ivorypaw didn't exmaine her target; she already knew where she was going to strike. She charged at the front of her mentor's fore legs. When she was very close, she paused and took a small leap to her left. She then attacked her the back legs. She tried with all of her might to take Friskyheart down.

Friskyheart saw Ivorypaw spring toward her forepaws. The warrior dodged to the left, only to run straight into the real attack. Feeling her hind legs being pushed out beneath her, Friskyheart let out a yowl of surprise and crashed to the ground, eyes wide. Quickly she jumped back up and took a second to steady herself, vulnerable for a few short seconds. "Very good!" she mewed her praise. But by the tone of her voice, the scrap was not over yet.
