Boulderpaw followed Arcticstripe to the next stop, all the way dragging his paws. This was no good. I'll never get anything right, I should just leave while I have the chance. He looked up and sighed. They were nearing the Pine Row. He could see the magnificent trees towering over them already.
Arcticstripe stopped when she reached one of the tall trees trunks. Pine neetles scattered the floor and pricked at her paws as she walked. She ignored it though, what was a little pain compared to teaching her apprentice something and making him happy?
Arcticstripe turned to face Boulderpaw and gave a small encouraging smile to him before beginning.
Let's try again Boulderpaw, what do you smell?

Boudlerpaw lifted his nose into the air one more time. Instead of using his mouth this time though, he decided just to sniff. Right away he caught the scent of LightClan. The wind wasn't blowing the smell this way though, so he could tell they had stayed on their side of the border. The smell was fresh too, so he guessed they had just recently been here.
LightClan has stayed to their side and they just recently put up new scent markers.
He glanced at Arcticstripe, hoping he was right.
A wide smile spread across Arcticstripes face and she nodded eagerly. She was proud that Boulderpaw had gotten it right this time.
Great job!
She purred and licked the top of his head in praise. She then realized how high the sun was getting.
Come on, let's go to the border with SweetClan and then we can work on those warrior moves!
She smiled, hoping that he would like that.
And Boulderpaw did. His eyes widened and he had to struggle to keep his excitement inside. He saw the flick of Arcticstripe's tail that signaled that they leave, but she didn't move. She was telling Boulderpaw to lead the way!
